About Us

Who Are We?

Eta Omega Chi (HΩX) is the first and only East Asian professional fraternity in the United States. We are a co-ed organization with over 13 active chapters and roughly 1,500 members nationwide, including alumni. We strive to build an elite community to share exclusive resources and opportunities. Our goals of pursuing entrepreneurship and building lifelong brotherhood make us distinctive amongst East Asian student organizations across the country.

The Gamma Chapter at UCLA was founded in February 2019. Thanks to the vision and persistence of our founding class, the fraternity thrived from the very beginning and built a legacy that continues to flourish on campus and beyond.

Why HΩX?

Joining HΩX means stepping into an experience that is both transformative and lasting. As a pledge and later a brother, you will find yourself supported at every step—whether through mentorship, collaborative projects, or the encouragement of peers who share your drive and ambition. The journey is filled with meaningful challenges and rewarding moments, creating memories that extend far beyond college life. It is a community that celebrates growth and motivates members to reach their full potential.

What Makes HΩX Different?

HΩX differentiates itself from other organizations both in the depth of its brotherhood and the strength of its professional network. While other groups may offer occasional events, HΩX builds lasting connections filled with regular bonding activities and collaboration. On the professional side, our members gain direct access to an alumni network, which actively provides internship referrals and career mentorship. This dual focus on personal relationships and professional development sets us apart from other organizations on campus.

history

A Shared Beginning

Eta Omega Chi (HΩX), a professional fraternity, was founded on October 27, 2014 at the College of Letters and Science, UC Berkeley by five Chinese scholars: Chuyun Wang, Dongyu Li, Mao Mao, Yijing Lu, and Yuan Xia. The Greek letters HΩX were chosen to symbolize “同源 (Tongyuan)”, meaning “common origin”. This reflects the fraternity’s mission to unite members with shared cultural roots, while also empowering them to thrive in both academic and professional spheres.

A Legacy of Growth

As a fraternity dedicated to supporting the Chinese student community, HΩX upholds American Greek-life traditions, including recruitment, a pledge process, and close-knit brotherhood bonds. Members celebrate Chinese cultural traditions such as Lunar New Year banquets and Mid-Autumn Festival gatherings, strengthening ties through shared heritage and community spirit. This fusion of culture and brotherhood is what has made HΩX stand out since its founding.
